Down with Deadbeats

Parents not receiving child support unite against deadbeat parents.

OK i have a question about offering a reward in the arrest of a deadbeat dad. My question stims on the fact my X has a warrant for his arrest, he lives in the same town as i do, but refuses to pay his child support. He owes over 20K. I wanted to get the cops involved more in the search for him, since they wont go and search him out, they have to stumble on him. So i thought i would offer a reward to the person (friend, family member, neighbor, acquaintance, ect) who would turned him in to the cops.

I thought by offering a reward for the arrest of my X, and paid to the person who turned him in i could get more attention to my case.

I was told by the cops that "IF" a person that hunted down my X and hurt him or broke the law it would make me liable. Now i got what i wanted, i wanted the police more involved in the fact that my X has a warrant, and they apparently are at his house alot. But my question is has anyone else done a reward or something similar?

Teresa,

I have never thought of offering an award, but sounds like a good idea. I know that my ex has had warrants and I have called the sheriff and told them about the warrant and his whereabouts, but they told me they do not go door to door for misdemeanor warrants, they were far too busy for that (Broward County Sheriff.)
I was trying to research any information about citizens offering rewards for wanted people, and am still unclear on the procedures.
Why not contact a bounty hunter? If they pick up bond-skippers for a price, they may offer a service similar to that for people with warrants.
