Parents not receiving child support unite against deadbeat parents.

My latest letter. This is how I got my child support Liason.

Florida Governor Charlie Crist is in receipt of your email regarding
your concerns with the child support system in Florida. I am sorry to
hear of the difficulties you continue to experience receiving the child
support owed you. Governor Crist asked me to respond.

I understand you have already been in contact with the Department of
Revenue. They are assigned responsibility for child support issues, and
are therefore the appropriate state agency to respond to you regarding
your child support case. I encourage you to continue working with the
Department of Revenue. To assist you, I have forwarded your
correspondence to that agency to ensure they are aware of your ongoing
concerns.

The Department of Revenue provides information about child support
issues on its website at: http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/childsupport/.
The website also provides a complete list of addresses and phone numbers
to contact. The headquarters address and phone number is: Florida
Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement Program, Post Office
Box 8030, Tallahassee, Florida 32301-8030, telephone (800) 622-5437 or
(850) 922-9590.

Thank you for contacting Governor Charlie Crist. We hope this proves
helpful.

Sincerely,

Peggy E. Kassees

Subject: Delinquent Child Support Non payment since July 2008
Dear Representatives and Senators;
Hello! I am looking for a little bit of help. Let me start by saying
I know that my situation is not as bad as a lot of other peoples, I am
however still trying to make my situation better.
I Have been divorced since 2007 and my ex-husband is delinquent child
support for over $6,000.00. Some of that is past arrearage from when we
first separated. He did not help with child support until the Court
ordered it the first time.
The particular problem that I have now. Some of you already know
that my ex was arrested and put on Probation for Driving with a
suspended license and was convicted of a felony. I was not aware and I
was upset that I was not told about it. Anyway he was let off probation
early and then I believe he was fired shortly after that. He was
employed at Allegro assisted living facility. I believe that he only
kept that job as a condition of being on probation.
I have a lawyer, but I am struggling just to pay the daily bills due
to lack of child support. I went to the Pasco County Court house on
September 2, to ask to have my ex drivers license suspended. On
September 5, my ex husbands lawyer petitioned the court for family
mediation and to block the petition of the drivers license suspension.
Then when I filled out the paperwork to go to family mediation my ex
husband and his lawyer were taking their time to set up the mediation.
During this period I still did not receive any child support. I called
senator Storms office and Senator Crist and one office helped me speed
up the mediation process and the other helped me transfer my Child
Support Case to the State of Floria Child support services. I could no
longer afford my lawyer. Well it only took 3 days to put my case in the
state system. That was good. My ex has received his third notice to
comply October 22, 2008 and a judgment of delinquency on
October 28, 2008. I have been looking at his DL on a regular basis
to see when it would get suspended. I noticed that the date would be
Dec 3, 2008. I will also tell you that we had a mediation on Dec 1,
2008 and I asked CSE to be there, but they do not attend mediation. We
did not come to an agreement. I checked on Dec 3 and my ex drivers
license was suspended. I checked again on Dec 4th and for some reason
it is no longer suspended. I called the CSE and they told me there was
no payment on record and that they just got a new computer system in. I
am wondering if this was a glitch (this might be small to you, but it is
a huge deal to me). I am not sure how his Drivers license would be
reinstated if there was no payment. I am also unclear how Pasco county
court can block getting a DL suspension and then order me to family
mediation on time sharing and child support. Everyone keeps telling me
they are two separate issues and should not be
compared to the other.
My ex has had a new job since October moved into a brand new apartment
in Clearwater that comes with a flat screen tv and a brand new car and
he has the money to pay a lawyer to drag me to court 5 months earlier
than the agreed upon time for our next visitation agreement ( when my
child reached the age of 4). I find it hard to believe he cannot pay
child support and somehow got approved to be on food stamps.
I have been at the same job for 12 years and make a decent living. I
am struggling to take care of my child. I see a lot of women in my
situation who just quit their jobs and go on welfare. I do not think
that is the right thing to do. That makes taxpayers have to help pay
for the child. I am simply asking to have the fathers pay for their
child. I believe that having his Drivers lIcense suspended would have
at least given some income until the CSE took him to court.
My ex has had his DL suspended at 3 times since my son has been alive
for either driving without insurance, nonpayment of child support ( not
my child) he has another case in Hillsbourgh. I believe he is in
contempt of court for that one too, but I do not think the mother has
the means or the time to pursue it.
The main thing I would like at this moment is to have his DL suspended
so he will make some sort of Child support payment. I am trying my best
to support my child and my ex is not trying at all. He keeps getting
second chances. My child only has one chance to be a child and needs to
be provided for. My case number is 51-2006-DR-003760. His felony
conviction was in Pinellas county Docket # 1239174. I would appreciate
any help i could get on this this matter.
I would also like to ask that you look at Getting a Bill of rights for
children of Incarcerated Felons submitted. I noticed there was a bill
submitted for this year that asks that Female Inmates be Incarcerated
somewhere close to their children. Why would it just be females? I
really just want the other parent to be notified when an arrest is made.

Thanks again for your time and attention,

PS. I volunteered to help with Children's week.

This is definitely the way to go. Your email got the point across. You expressed your frustration without insults and gave supporting facts.

I have always been a firm believer that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

I am grateful for this information; it has given me some guidelines for future correspondence regarding my case.

You are going to move mountains :)

Thank you!

The email address is Charlie.Crist@myflorida.com , and in my experience they are answered by Peggy E. Kassees, the governor's assistant.

Your letter was very well written. This sounds really similair to my situation. I don't collect welfare either and really just want what's best for my child also. I'll be starting school next week and I'm really excited about that.
Thanks so much for sharing that letter because it gives me hope that something can be done in my situaiton also.
