The verdict! My ex got a downward modification and the money he did not pay over the six month period was just added to his arrears.Yeha so I guess my child will be like 21 by the time he gets all his child support.
The court date before last (I attended) he had to pay $1000 or be detained at this time his arrears were about $30,000. The last time I was not aware of the court date so did not attend and they let him go with a "promise to pay" $1000 and his arrears were close to $40,000. He never paid the $1000 and hasn't paid since.
I believe it is very important to be at these hearings so that the court can put a face to the "paperwork".
Thanks for the feedback. I don't understand why they do not put them on a work release program until they pay off the debt. I have been busy writing congressmen and the Governor as well as the President. I have sent all the letter you posted to send regarding having the photos posted on the internet. Thanks for your help.
In my past experience with these court dates the monthly amount was set and a certain amount of that was ordered to the arrearages. My monthly ordered amount never increased.
They finally took the ex's driver's license last month. Now he claims he is "disabled" and cannot do construction anymore. It has not kept him from going out and partying, though. I am waiting on them to serve him for a court date. I am just curious about others experiences with the court system.
I know. If my daughter's father started paying his support. My daughter would be almost my age before he was finished with his arrears. I'm sorry to hear about the downward modification. Did his employment change?
