Most Wanted Deadbeat Parent Website Sample Letter to Legislators
Here is a sample letter to legislators suggesting a "Most Wanted Deadbeat Parents Website" for those of us whose county/state does not have one. Any suggestions are welcome.

I am writing to you today as a constituent in your district who is one of many struggling parents with court ordered child support arrears due to them. According to The U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s preliminary report for the Fiscal Year 2007 (most recent report available), nationwide, the amount of child support in arrears is $107,248,465,839.
Many states and counties now make lists of their most wanted deadbeat parents-those who continuously fail to pay court-appointed child support-available on their web sites. Take into account the success of LA County, California’s Most Wanted Deadbeat Page - http://childsupport.co.la.ca.us/dlparents.htm . Last month LA County’s parent with the highest delinquent child support case was arrested within a week of their picture being posted on this website.
I call to you to suggest legislation similar to The State of Illinois’ Public Aid Code (305 ILCS 5/12-12.1.) Deadbeats most wanted list. (a) The Director may disclose a "deadbeats most wanted list" of individuals who are in arrears in their child support obligations under an Illinois court order or administrative order. The list shall include only those persons who are in arrears in an amount greater than $5,000 (or such greater amount as established by the Department by rule).
I appeal to you to reflect on this suggestion. There are many children who are victims of the crime “non-support of dependents.” An available list of people that perpetrate this crime would help in apprehending these people and also act as a deterrent.
Parents and children that are not receiving child support need your help. I am enclosing a self-addressed, stamped envelope for your reply.
