Down with Deadbeats

Parents not receiving child support unite against deadbeat parents.

I have been supporting my children since '02 with a child support order, which has now grown to $19,836. DOR cannot help me apparently because they cannot find an "active address" for my ex. Because of this they have done nothing to support my case, except a tax intercept, which I innitiated, not them. She apparently did not file a tax return this year, because they did not intercept one.

What are my options at this point? Can I swear out a warrant? if so, how?

Andy help would be greatly appreciated

Andy,

I had the same problem for years. As far as I can tell in Florida a "regular" person cannot swear out an arrest warrant unless there is a verifiable address Online Sunshine.
My ex owes over $40,000 and I was unable to have a warrant issued because there was no verifiable address. I did give them an address and the postal verification came back negative. I was so fed up with DOR because of how ridiculous this seemed to me, that I wrote this letter. Within one month of writing this letter I received a copy of the Contempt of Court hearing scheduled against my ex for this September. I mailed a hard copy and sent it in an email. My first response was from Peggy (Governor Crist's assistant) via email telling me how I should direct my questions to DOR. I wrote back stating my question wasn't for DOR, my question was specifically "How can someone break the law and not have a warrant issued simply because there is no valid address for them?" I went on to ask, if I can't ask the governor of my state about my state's laws who can I ask. I received a response stating she would forward my information to DOR in Tallahassee. Within a couple of days I received a phone call from Tallahassee stating that something would be done. Within 2.5 weeks I received the copy of the Contempt of Court hearing. On the hearing papers were the 2 last known addresses for my ex even though the addresses hadn't been confirmed, my ex has been considered served.

I don't know what will happen at the hearing, but I do know this was the only way I was able to get a hearing without my ex having a verifiable address.

I hope this helps!

Thank you,
Tammy

Thank you very much Tammy, I will send an email to his office today. Would you mind if I used yours as a template? And please let me know how your court appearance goes.

Kind Regards

You are welcome to use it. I switched computers since I wrote that and unfortunately don't have the document saved on this computer or I would send you the file. Sorry, about that.
Be persistent, it was such a relief when I got a court date. I hope it works out for you too!
