Anyone ever gone directly to the Child Enforcement office???

I'm going to the Child Enforcement Office tomorrow. I want to speak with a case manager. Has anyone gone without an appointment?

I have. They have "walk in day" on Friday where I live. I walked in and didn't have to wait, which was a miracle. I was not able to meet with my caseworker, but did neet with a caseworker that was there. Where I live, you can request a meeting with your caseworker if you do so in writing. I have found that you must call repeatedly and leave several messages in order to get any response. You have to be the "squeeky wheel".

I have no idea if the office where I live has "walk in days". That sounds great. At least you were able to meet with a case manager. Well, from experience so far in dealing with Child Enforcement you have to be persistant or your case goes nowhere. I'll be the squeeky wheel when it comes to the well being of my son. =) I'm sure you feel the same way.

Tarah,
I went without an appointment twice and left both times after waiting 2.5 and 3 hours. I was never able to get there right when they opened in the morning. Now that my daughter is off for the summer I am going to go first thing in the morning. I heard that works best. Also, you know how long I was trying to get a court date and the trouble I was having because of the "postal verification" coming back negative. Since I wrote that letter to The Governor about my case I got a court date. It took less than a month after I contacted The Governor's office. Someone up there forwarded my information to someone in Tallahassee with The Department of Revenue and suddenly I get a court date. I received a copy of the hearing information that was sent to my daughter's father. It had 2 previous address on it, neither one of them had come back with a positive "postal verification." Miranda is right, be the squeeky wheel.

I have also written to my Governor twice. He replied to both letters and has forwarded the information to the Commissioner of the Department of Human Resources. He also sent me contact information for the Commissioner and her phone number. I am waiting on the non custodial parent to be served right now. I am hoping they will be able to serve him soon so we can move forward. Now he is claiming to be disabled, so I don't know how that will play out in court...we shall see. Good luck guys.

Good luck to you too. Please keep us posted.
If he's claiming to be disabled and gets disability they should garnish that too. I am sure it would be less than garnishing a paycheck, but at least something.
Whoever screams loudest is heard. I hope it works out well for you. I know that the waiting game is hard.

I was planning on going 1st thing in the morning. It's great you got your court date. Awesome.

I really want everything that has been done on my case. Everytime I call the 1.800 number I get different answers to the same question. I just want to know the most up to date information available so I can write the governor with the correct information as of yet. I wrote the the governor before via email but no action was taken. I'll write again in regular mail.

Thanks for the replies so soon.

Tarah,

In Hillsborough County they will give you a copy of your file for minimal copy fees, I'm sure that Broward's the same. I never got a response from the letter I mailed, but I sent the same letter via email and was corresponding with the governor's assistant. She is actually the one who forwarded my information to The Department of Revenue in Tallahassee. I think it's better to have your case file so you can write them with the specifics of what has and hasn't happened with your case to date. Let me know when you are ready, I will send you the ladies info that helped me.

Hope you are doing well :)

Tammy, be sure to take the copy of your court date and the paperwork that says it is a child support hearing. This way they will know they must appear. Hey what are you doing Monday I have the day off. My ex will have my son though:(.
